Which park would you go to?
Central Park, New York City - on a beautiful Sunday.
Why?
NYC is one of my "homes" and I miss it sometimes.
Who would you go with?
My daughter Ilana (aged 3) and my husband John.
What would you take to the park?
- a book Deborah Cameron's Verbal
Hygiene.
- a CD Bach Sonatas and
Partitas for solo violin, Henryk Szerying (DG).
- a magazine Saveur.
- a video to watch later Home
movies of Ilana when she was 1.
- anything else? Bicycles.
Inside your picnic basket what would
you take
- to eat? fresh poppyseed bagels, cream cheese, smoked
salmon, salads from Zabars.
- to drink? good coffee, fresh
juice.
Who would you like to meet in the park?
Friends I rarely get to see because they're scattered around the
world.
What would you talk about?
memories, children, teaching, food, family, mountains....
What would you do afterwards?
We'd go bookstore hopping down Broadway.

Margaret
Lo is Head of the Young Learners Unit at the British Council in
Hong Kong. She teaches children, teenagers and adults, runs CELTYL
teacher training courses and work with teachers of adult learners
who are developing their skills in teaching young learners. She
is a regular speaker at English language teaching conferences on
topics relating to young learners and teacher training.
